Culture Club Picture
Culture Club was a popular 1980s pop group, perhaps most noticeable for their gender-bending frontman Boy George. The other members of the band were Roy Hay on guitars and keyboards, Mikey Craig playing bass and Jon Moss (ex Damned, London, Adam and the Ants) on drums. Their first album, 1982's Kissing to Be Clever, became a major international hit, spawning the hit singles "Do You Really Want to Hurt Me" (which went 'all the way' in the BBC-Charts in late 1982), "Time (Clock of the Heart)", and "I'll Tumble 4 Ya". Unique in his eccentric manner of dress and androgynous look, Boy George became a worldwide celebrity. Their second album, 1983's Colour By Numbers also did extremely well, giving the band its second number one hit in the UK with "Karma Chameleon." However, trouble was brewing within the Culture Club camp.

The Medal Song Lyrics

Culture Club

You used to say
Love and be loved
All the time
Till you discovered
Fellings were a failure sign
When it rains
It rains so hard
The tears begin to show
When its raining in my heart
I want the world to know
Chorus:
Life will never be the same
As it was again
Life will never be the same
As it was again
Through my anger and my joy
My tears and pain
Beneath the sea of hollywood
Where francis used to reign
They trade their deepest wishes
For a part in someones game
Spirits die alone at night
For life they cannot hold
I would rather dance with you
Than have a medal to show
(chorus)
We are just everyday people
Not a theatre company
Everyone wants to join us
Theres no fear in us you see
Its me for you
And you for me
Sun go east, sun go west
Will I wear a medal again
Sun go east, son go west
We can dance and bring on the rain
Now I say love for love
Not for a space in time
The strangest things
Can shatter kings
And take away whats mine
When its raining in my heart
I want the world to know
I would rather dance with you
Than have a medal to show
(chorus)
Sun go east, sun go west
Will I wear a medal again
Sun go east, son go west
We can dance and bring on the rain
